Whitney and Doug met me on a brisk fall day for their North Carolina engagement portraits – but this wouldn’t be any ordinary session. These nearlyweds are adventurers at heart and wanted to go somewhere special, so we decided to hike deep into beautiful North Carolina to get to just the right spot for their photos. I absolutely love clients who are up for anything (including a 2 mile walk back to the car in the dark – eeep!) and finding a new spot THIS special made my heart skip a beat. Beyond the fun of it all, it was so truly wonderful to get to shoot Whitney who I’ve known since my early years in High School! After not seeing her sweet face in a number of years, it was such a joy to look through my lens at this beautiful woman in love with her sweet husband-to-be Doug. Together we all hiked to our destination, stopping a few times to soak up the fading daylight and enjoy some cocoa.
Finally, we made it as the towering stone rose around us, and the storybook, winding, tree roots and nearby river opened up for this oh-so-pretty session. I couldn’t believe sweet North Carolina had this hiding in its forests – I’m in love!
I can’t wait to celebrate with them next year for their Fall wedding in Asheville and capture what is sure to be a beautiful day!
