I had the absolute privilege recently to photograph the wedding of Ana Cristina Alvarez to John Carter Cash at Middleton Place. John’s parents Johnny Cash and June Carter were honored beautifully throughout the day, and as a huge Cash fan to begin with, I was wrapped up in awe and appreciate for getting a front row seat to it all. Ana had a lively, exuberant family with Cuban roots that shone through beautifully throughout the celebrations in a myriad of ways through special touches – and that girl blew us all away with her amazing voice during the reception! John was in constant awe of his amazing bride, and surprised his love many times throughout the wedding celebrations with sneaky plans to take her breath away through music (both his own moving song, as well as a bagpiper at the ceremony and reception) and even a mid-ceremony gift that had made her jaw drop. It was truly a remarkable day with both Ana and John. Thank you to the Cash family for trusting me to capture these beautiful images. Impeccable planning by Ashley Rhodes Events, florals by Em Creative Floral, videography by Hart to Heart, and one hell of a band with the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. //

Reception: Middleton Place

The day started with a stunning morning in downtown Charleston

A special touch: previously unreleased love poems from Johnny Cash to June Carter were just published in the book “Forever Words” – including images of the actual letters – one poem in particular was special to my bride Ana, and we incorporated it into the day’s imagery.

Ana’s “something blue” was June Carter’s turquoise ring!

Ana and John were ALL about family – and incorporated them as much as possible. Below, Ana with her sisters and nieces as bridesmaids!

Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests went to Middleton Place for a breathtaking evening of celebration beneath a gorgeous Sperry Tent.
