I’ve always yearned for rolling hills and sweeping views, and often find myself shooting and working in locations that require directions like “past the cotton field on the left” or “up that dirt road for 7 miles.” It seems so easy to miss the beauty in your own city, and I am so grateful for the amazing Brittany and Jim for reminding me of just how lovely downtown Raleigh North Carolina wedding photography can really be. Beautiful buildings, exposed brick walls, twinkling lights and  a couple who absolutely glow with love for each other – it was the perfect combination to remind me of how special this town really is.

It never fails that on a wedding day one of my favorite moments is the when it’s time for the bride to get dressed – I always include ample time for brides to take it slow and enjoy the anticipation of it all (that and buttons take WAY longer than people think!). It’s the moment when things start to feel “real” for everyone in the room. A beautiful woman gets to step into a gown and for a few fleeting hours, becomes a bride.
